A MAIN road in Dumfries will be shut overnight next week, it has been announced.
The drainage work on the A701 Tinwald Downs roundabout has been ongoing since late January and has caused lengthy delays for thousands of motorists during that time.
And now due to “clashing utilities works on site”, additional work to complete the drainage works is required.
Daytime works will be completed today with traffic management to be removed during the afternoon.
Work will then pause for the Easter weekend before overnight works (7 pm – 6 am) will resume from Monday, April 21, until 6 am on Saturday, April 26, under temporary traffic lights and convoy.
An Amey spokesman added: “Heathhall Garden Centre and Heathhall Dumfries Esso Express are open for business.”
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our stakeholders as we work to improve the drainage in this area.”
