Man, 44, faces sex charges

A CASTLE Douglas man is facing charges involving sexual activities with two girls under the age of 16.

In court this week, Ivan Maxwell, 44, of Whitelaw Drive, Castle Douglas, pleaded not guilty to a total of five charges alleged to have taken place at various locations in the Dumfries and Galloway area.
Three of the charges involve one girl on various occasions during a year to June 2014 in which he is alleged to have had sex with her, sent text messages of a sexual nature and intentionally caused her to participate in a sexual activity in grabbing her by her arm and kissing her.
He is also alleged to have sexually assaulted the other girl on an occasion between November 2012 and November the following year, pushed her onto a bed, lay on top of her, produced a condom and made sexual remarks.
Trial has been set to take place next month.
