On Tuesday, Gerald Wilson, from Lockerbie, appeared in private on a petition also alleging two charges of lewd and indecent behaviour.
No plea or declaration was made and the case was continued and he was allowed bail.
Man, 66, on rape charge
A 66-year-old man has made a brief appearance at Dumfries Sheriff Court on a charge of rape.
