Man, 95, dies on A713

THE elderly man who died in a road crash near Castle Douglas on Tuesday afternoon has been named as Norman Wolfenden.

The 95-year-old, of Kirkland Street in Dalry, was cut out of his green BMW and airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow following the smash on the A713, but he had suffered fatal injuries and later died.
His car was the only vehicle involved in the accident near the entrance leading to Grennan, Dalry at 3.39 pm.
A full crash scene investigation was carried out at the scene and the road was closed for a number of hours.
The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
