Man charged after car incident

A MAN was taken to hospital after reports that he was hit by a car in Dumfries on Saturday night.

Police and ambulance were called to the scene in Criffel Road at about 11.20 pm and the 28-year-old was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.

Enquiries are continuing, with officers gathering CCTV footage from the surrounding area and carrying out door to door enquiries.

They are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may be able to assist the investigation and they have also appealed for any dash cam, private CCTV or doorbell footage from the Lincluden area around the time of the incident to be shared.

Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: “Any information, or footage, could prove vital, so please do pass it on to officers.”

“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 4575 of 17 May. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Meanwhile, it was yesterday announced that a 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder at Criffel Road.

He is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court today, Thursday, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
