Man dies in car fire

A 73-YEAR-OLD Lockerbie man has died in a fire in a car near Lochmaben.

The body of George Smith, 73, from Kintail Park in Lockerbie, was discovered in a vehicle at the Halleaths Caravan site at 10.25 am on Monday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inspector Graham Kerr, of Police Scotland, said today: “A joint fire investigation has taken place between Police Scotland the Fire and Rescue Service and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death.  The Procurator Fiscal has been informed of the circumstances.”

THE Cumbria Border and Fife Fancy Canary Club will be holding its annual canary show in the village of Low Hesket, on the outskirts of Carlisle, on Sunday December 8
