Man in court for New Year robbery

A MAN has made a brief appearance in court following an alleged incident in which a 78-year-old woman was attacked, robbed and left with a broken arm.

It happened in Balmoral Road in Dumfries on New Year’s Day.
Matthew Howes or Martin, 36, of Millburn Avenue, Dumfries, was on a petition before Sheriff Brian Mohan at Dumfries on Wednesday.
He was on a petition alleging charges of assault and robbery.
No plea or declaration was made and the case was continued for further examination.
