Man killed in crash with lorry

A 23-year-old man has died after his car was in a collision with an articulated lorry near Lockerbie late last night.

He was the driver of a BMW 1 Series and was pronounced dead at the scene on the B7076 service road at midnight.

The 65-year-old male lorry driver did not require hospital treatment.

Police are appealing for information and are especially keen to trace a red car travelling southbound on the road prior to the crash and which may be able to help with the investigation.

Sgt Colin Ramage said: “We are providing support to the family of the man who died as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of the crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist. Any driver with dash cam footage is asked to please contact us.”

Call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4261 of October 29.
