Man sought in GP hunt

A MYSTERY man is being sought by police as the search continues for a missing Lockerbie GP.

It’s nearly a week since Dr George Alex Porteous, pictured, was reported missing and officers today said they want to trace a man seen standing on the A711 last Friday afternoon. He was spotted about a mile from Beeswing, where the doctor’s car was found.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “As part of our enquiries into the missing person Dr Porteous, we are trying to identify a man seen standing on the A711.

“The sighting has been reported by a passing motorist who described the man as around 6ft, in his 50s, average build, fair hair and wearing a dark top.

“The man appeared to be on his own.

“Did you see this man? Do you know who he is? “Did you capture him on your vehicle dash cam?”

Anyone that can help should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3660 of 18th September 2018.

Searches have today been focused on the area of Kissock Forest.
