ANNANDALE cricketer Chris McBride is currently on Scotland duty as the team prepare to start their World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe with a match against Ireland next Wednesday.
The former Carrutherstown Primary pupil said: “The tour is going to be pretty full on. The appeal of playing in a world event, with it being my first ever qualifier, is very exciting.”
The 23-year-old made his Scotland debut last year, he added: “I dreamt of getting into the national team when I was a young boy and I remember going to watch my brother play for Scotland U19s in Belfast, so that was when I really wanted to get involved.
“There was a lot of pride for that debut, especially for Dumfries, my home cricket club. I always get great support from them.”
Scotland start in a five-team group which includes Sri Lanka.
