McKechnie and Cowie depart Palmy

WINGER Kieran McKechnie has parted company with Queen of the South.

He joined the Doonhamers in 2020 and made 97 appearances and scored ten goals.

Meanwhile, long-serving goalkeeper Charlie Cowie, right, has made his move to Gartcain permanent.

The Dumfries-born shotstopper — who has been at the League One club for ten years — made his debut as a schoolboy against Raith Rovers a few years ago where he made several outstanding saves.

Elsewhere, midfielder Ben Johnstone has been loaned out to Lowland League outfit Cumbernauld Colts, linking up with fellow Queens loanee Euan Ross. And, Niall Rogerson has been loaned up with Threave Rovers for the rest of the season.

Queens boss Peter Murphy had stated he needed to clear the decks before adding new players to the team.
