Medal magic

TWO curlers from the region helped Team GB win a silver medal at the Winter Transplant Games in Canada this week.

Linda Owen, from Middlebie, and Fiona Macrae, of Auchencairn, were part of the successful rink playing in Banff.

The team won all their round robin games and qualified straight to the final, where they lost to a Canadian team from southern Alberta.

Linda yesterday said: “We’d had a close game against the Canadian team in the round robin and managed to beat them but they beat us in the gold medal game. It’s been a fantastic experience, I am delighted to have won two medals this week and to meet amazing people who have all either had a transplant or are a living donor.”
