Trio in court over medal thefts

THREE men have been accused in court following a theft from Dumfries Museum which included the 2002 Olympic gold medal won by Scottish curler Rhona Martin.

Luke Holland, 27; Stewart Pettigrew, 33; and Charlie Walker, 24 are alleged to have broken into the museum in April 2014, and stolen sporting medals, a chain of office and a casket containing an historical scroll.
In court on Tuesday, Pettigrew, of Thistle Grove Caravan Park at Collin, and Walker, whose address was given as Barlinnie Prison, pleaded not guilty, while a warrant was granted for the arrest of Holland, from Luton, who failed to appear.
Trial at Dumfries Sheriff Court was set for August.
Walker also pleaded not guilty to stealing a car at Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire a fortnight earlier, while Holland is accused of the reset of the vehicle.
