Micro grants success

TWO Moffat sport groups have been successful in securing £500 micro-grants from the town’s community council.

Representatives from Upper Annandale Juniors and Beechgrove Bowling Club pleaded their case for the grants which will help them in the next year.

Uppers requested funding for new goalposts to help them comply with regulations. The grant will provide for a pair of nine foot goalposts and nets.

Meanwhile, Beechgrove Bowling Club are approaching their 200 anniversary next year, and this will coincide with a large competition to be held in Moffat which will bring in many visitors.

A grant was awarded to help with the promotional and support material to get this organised.

However, Studio Moffat’s application for a grant to replace ageing and malfunctioning speakers was approved in principle but two community councillors will visit the site to confirm the situation prior to the actual award of money.

It comes after no-one from the group was able to attend the meeting. It was noted that there should be some restraints on late-night noise coming from the Studio.
