MOFFAT RFC were thrilled to receive a boost to their funds with a cheque presentation from the Holywood Trust.
The trust aims to help young people by providing financial grants, including to support opportunities for young people to participate in sport.
The rugby club received two awards, with one going to support their development officer Cammy Little deliver rugby skills sessions in local primary and secondary schools, as well as at the club.
The programme continues to encourage an increase in young people involved in sport and playing rugby, with the girls and boys teams at Moffat and Lockerbie Academies performing well in the regional schools competitions.
The second award will go toward improving the club’s facilities with new and upgraded sports lighting.
Moffat RFC recently began fundraising to deliver the project, which will allow a much improved evening training and playing experience under purpose built lights designed to maintain Moffat’s Dark Sky status.
The club is actively seeking funding to get the project underway and also welcomed a substantial award from Foundation Scotland.
Clare Hanna from Holywood Trust visited the club to make the cheque presentation during a youth evening training session.
She said it was a pleasure to meet the coaches and young players and wished the club well in their fundraising efforts.
