FREE cardiac screenings are coming to Kirkcudbright next month.
Following several successful cardiac screenings in Dumfries, the family of David Hill are delighted to announce details of their next screening days, to be held in partnership with cardiac charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). They will take place on June 14 and June 15 at Kirkcudbright Academy.
Former St Joseph’s pupil David, 30, collapsed whilst playing a cross-party rugby match for Holyrood in Dublin as part of the Parliamentary Six Nations.
Since his death in March 2022, the David Hill Memorial Fund has raised over £80,000 which has allowed his family to organise and book 1000 free cardiac screenings across Dumfries and Galloway.
David’s parents, Rodger Hill and Sharon Duncan, said: “We know that there is a real demand for screening. The screenings we held in Dumfries in April were booked out in under two hours.
“We hope that by taking this screening to the west of the region, more young people will have the opportunity to have their hearts screened. “We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in our fundraising and awareness raising campaigns.
“We, and CRY, believe that every young person from the age of 14 (up until the age of 35) should have access to free, expert cardiac screening and that young people and their parents should be given a choice to be screened.”
