On Saturday the Anvils claimed a point at home to Caledonian Braves.

The hosts took the lead on 16 minutes when Sam Atkinson’s corner was diverted into the net for an own goal from one of the Braves defenders.

Things got even better for Gretna before halftime as they doubled their lead. It was that man Atkinson again who found the net with a goal of the season contender. From the edge of the area, he volleyed a deep cross first time straight into the corner of the net. The home crowd roared as the visiting goalie was left with absolutely no chance.

However, in the second half Caley scored twice to level the game and force Gretna to settle a share of the spoils.

On Tuesday night Raydale was the scene again as Vinnie Parker’s troops welcomed bottom of the table Cumbernauld Colts.

And midfielder Dean Brotherston was on target in the second half to help Gretna to all three points.

This Saturday the Black and Whites head up the motorway to face Albion Rovers.

The two sides last met on the first day of the Lowland League season, Gretna will be looking for revenge after the Rovers ran out 3-0 winners that day.
