More twists and turns from hotel novelist
LIFE-CHANGING AUTHOR . . . Graham Smith runs a hotel and wedding venue, writes books in his spare time, and runs a programme to help other writers achieve their dreams

A KIRKPATRICK Fleming man will release the first two novels in his new crime thriller series today.

Graham Smith runs The Mill Forge hotel and wedding venue and writes books in his spare time.

Since 2015 he has published the DI Harry Evans series, the Major Crime Teams collection, the Jake Boulder thrillers and the Detective Beth Young trilogy.

The latest series will revolve around police officer Fiona Macleish solving mysteries in “The Flood” and “The Island”.

If hospitality and writing isn’t enough to keep him busy, Graham also helps other budding novellists achieve their dreams through his Crime and Publishment course, an annual event that takes place at his hotel.

Over the years, this course has had 15 attendees go on to be signed with publishers, with one being M.W. Craven who won the CWA Steel Dagger award in 2022, as well as the Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the year in July this year.

Discussing Graham’s new work, editor Natalie Edwards said: “From the moment the author shared this idea – of a locked room mystery, with a Scottish setting, where the forces of nature threaten the characters from the outside – I was completely hooked.

“And his new thrillers are absolutely brilliant. The evocative settings, the vulnerable-yet-tough policewoman, the clues that lead us to the murderers: it delivers on every count. Totally unmissable!”

Readers are also rating Graham’s books, describing them as ‘heart-pounding’, ‘chilling’, ‘riveting’, ‘dark’, ‘action-packed’ and ‘twisted’.

The titles are published by Bookouture and are available on Amazon.
