UPDATED: Motorcyclist named

A 72-year-old man who died in a fatal motorcycle collision near Moffat yesterday has been named by police.

He was David Arthur Shilton from Wallyford, Musselburgh.

Mr Shilton was involved in a one vehicle road traffic collision on the A708 road about 900 metres east of Polmoodie, Moffat at about 7.45 pm last night.

His green coloured BMW R1100 motorcycle left the roadway and crashed.

Emergency services attended and he was treated by ambulance staff, however he died at the scene.

The road was closed for eight hours to allow a full crash scene investigation to take place.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing and the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
