Motte and Bailey is preferred statue location
STATUE SITE . . . the old Everholm play park could soon be the site of a new sculpture

THE proposed location of a newly planned £100k sculpture in Annan has had to be changed following ground investigations at the original site.

The Motte and Bailey at the Everholm’s old play park has now been mooted as a potential location for Annan the History Town’s ‘Spirit of the Annan’ Annan art centrepiece.

It follows investigations on land at Battery Street, which was the top choice, which found a deep drain which makes the site unsuitable.

Members of the Annan Common Good Fund sub committee will be asked to endorse the Everholm Play Park as the primary location of the sculpture at their meeting next week.

Thornhill based blacksmith and sculpture Nate Robinson has been tasked with bringing the statue to life.

Once completed, it will be seven metres tall and depict a mythical kelpie barging into the washed away footbridges.
