MP duo against Assisted Dying

BOTH of the region’s MPs voted against the new Assisted Dying Bill in Westminster last week.

In the historic vote, John Cooper and David Mundell were opposed to the Terminally Ill Adults Bill.

It passed with a majority of 23 on Friday and will now go to the House of Lords.

If approved there, terminally ill adults in England and Wales who have less than six months to live would be able to apply for an assisted death. This would be subject to approval by two doctors and a panel including a social worker, senior legal figure and psychiatrist.
