Multi use games area mooted for Lochmaben

THE potential of a multi use games area (MUGA) being installed in Lochmaben has been discussed.

And new burgh community council chairman Kenelma McCrae says the group is working with Lochmaben FC and is hopeful they can work together.

She said: “We’re in the early stages but we had discussions with the football club about getting a MUGA for young people here.

“They are looking to work with us and move things forward as much as possible. It’s a positive start and we’ll update everyone at the next meeting.

“The council are aware that we want something here for the children and teens of Lochmaben.

“We’ll need to put out a public survey and test the waters soon so there’s evidence of people within the area who want to see the MUGA.”

Meanwhile, former community council chairman Colin Davidson was impressed with the football club’s “very ambitious ideas”.

He added: “Their ideas could be good for Lochmaben.

“They are keen to get this going as soon as possible, but we on the other hand are conscious about what funding needs to be raised.

“It’s was a very constructive discussion we had, they had a site in mind.

“It’s an encouraging early start to what could be a new project for here.”
