DUMFRIES archer Nathan Macqueen has returned with a bronze medal from the Para European Championships.
Nathan and teammate Phoebe Paterson Pine earned the gong in the compound open mixed category.
The second ranked British team faced the fourth ranked duo from Italy. Nathan and Phoebe gained a significant head start from the first end, and they were able to maintain their lead until the end of the match to win 147-132.
The 29-year-old – who in 2023 became a double European Paralympic Champion – wasn’t able to retain the men’s individual compound open and finished fourth overall.
Nathan, who posted on social media after the championships, said: “I shot well and some times that’s all you can do. In my bye I shot a 149 so I knew I was on it and went into the first match confident.
“Unfortunately there was a delay going into the first match and the wind started to pick up slightly.
“I felt like I was shooting strong shots but missing the ten by millimetres, which is super frustrating but not a lot I could do as it was flicking left and right.
“It’s not been the competition I was hoping for, but it’s great to come home with a medal for my son and shoot with Phoebe again in a final.”
