Following C&D Auction Marts Limited’s recent acquisition of the trading businesses at Dumfries and Longtown, it has grown its team of auctioneers and field staff to ensure a strong presence in south west Scotland is maintained.
Stewart Wilson, of Dundrennan, and Alistair Watret, of Ruthwell, have joined the company as part-time field officers – with Mr Wilson also taking on the responsibility of selling cast sheep at the mart’s weekly Wednesday sale. They will both report to Harry Begg, who remains in day-to-day charge as head of livestock sales.
Meanwhile, Ben Radley has been promoted to a trainee auctioneer position, alongside his present and ongoing role as a field officer.
And Matthew Thomson is to start attending Dumfries mart on an occasional basis to assist in the canvassing for and selling of calves at the fortnightly Monday sale.
Commenting on the new appointments, director Stuart Thomson said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Stewart and Alistair, whose experience and knowledge of the livestock sector will add another dimension to our team at Dumfries as we seek to grow the business from an already strong and well-established farming customer base.
“Ben Radley will play a key part in the long-term future of Dumfries mart and in the short-term he will also gain auctioneering experience through the attendance and selling at Thomson, Roddick and Medcalf’s Tuesday fortnightly sales at our Wigton saleroom.”
