New GP sought for Canonbie

HEALTH bosses say work is ‘actively underway’ to identify a new provider to take over medical services at Canonbie Surgery.

It follows the planned retirement of the current contract holders, Dr Andrew Rose and his wife, and business partner, Gillian.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is now advertising the contract for the provision of medical services at the practice and inviting interested parties to apply.

Head of primary care services Linda Bunney said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for a new provider to take on a well-established medical practice that plays a vital role at the heart of the local community.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to GP Dr Andrew Rose and his wife and business partner Gillian for their years of dedication and commitment to the patients and the practice. Running a medical practice is no small feat, and this team have done an exceptional job. Their hard work and dedication have created a strong foundation for a new operator to build upon.”

The contract for Canonbie Surgery will be promoted on the Public Health Scotland website, and the NHS welcomes expressions of interest.

Linda added: “We are keen to ensure that Canonbie Surgery remains a thriving and essential part of the community’s healthcare network. We encourage those with an interest in taking up this opportunity to get in touch.”

NHS Dumfries and Galloway will continue to provide updates as efforts progress towards securing a new operator, with the goal of ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of care for local patients.
