And families and members of the public turned out to view the proposals, along with staff and pupils.
Over the last few months, different design workshops have taken place looking at aspects of the High School campus including the classrooms, the school environment, the look and feel of the school and access to and from the building. Primary pupils from some of the surrounding schools, Dumfries High School pupils from all years, staff and wider stakeholders have all taken part. They have been putting forward their ideas on what they would like to see in the new Dumfries High School.
The design consultants, Ryder Architecture, have led the design of many school projects across Scotland. They were the team leading on the workshops. They have collated all the feedback and have used this to inform their design proposal for the new school.
Head teacher Phil Cubbon said: “This is a very exciting time for the Dumfries High School community. Work is due to start on the new build in early 2023 and the new Dumfries High School will open in 2025.
“We want our new school to deliver the very best teaching and learning experiences for all our young people.”
