New team take the helm

NITHSDALE Amateur Rowing Club have begun preparation for the 2018 regatta season by appointing a new captaincy team.

Club captain Melanie Huxtable, vice captain Emma Staniforth and captain of boats John Dunse – pictured above – are looking forward to another summer of racing, with Nithsdale’s junior and senior rowers competing across the UK and also at their home regatta in June.

The club will be holding an open day at the boathouse on May 26, and will also be partnering with Active Schools and Community Sport to promote rowing to primary 7 pupils across Nithsdale.

New captain of boats John Dunse said: “Our club has been racing on the Nith for the last 150 years – we are looking for the next generation of athletes and coaches.”
