And players from both the town’s bowling clubs turned out for the inaugural Scott Morrison Memorial Top 10 competition.
The singles match was played between Ronnie Johnstone (New Town) and Alan Aitken (Old Toon), with Alan winning 21-20.
The pairs game was also won by the Old Town with Kevin Irving and George Cuthbertson beating Duncan Ritchie and Ian Scott.
The triple made up of Lawson Reid, Roddy Innes and Mark Grieve overcame Karl Nawrocki, Nicky Dunn and Raymond Remond.
The home side also won the Rink – Paul Mitchell, Duncan Johnstone, Kieran Johnstone and Alan Warwick beat Rob Dunn, Stewart Paisley, Brian Jardine and Lauren Scott.
This meant the score was 2-2 so the game went down to shots, which mean the New Town won by 90-61.
Tommy Morrison presented the cup and medals to the winning side and commiserated the Old Town.
The competition was in memory of Scott Morrison who sadly passed away last year, and will take place again next year where the Old Town will host the game. Thanks were expressed to everyone who came and played and to Katherine Latimer who took photos.
