DUMFRIES and Galloway has the third highest prevalence of obese people in its population in Scotland.
The region has been ranked third with 72 per cent of adult residents here classified as overweight or obese.
The research was carried out by health experts at Now Patient.
And Dumfries and Galloway came out just behind East Ayrshire and the Orkney Islands, both on 75 per cent.
Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health and it’s classified as a BMI of 30kg/m² or higher.
Now Patient used data from 2016-19 from the Scottish Government and also looked at the number of Google searches for ‘how to lose weight fast’ in the last 12 months.
