A STAY of execution has been granted to the former public paddling pool in Lochmaben.

Lockerbie and Lochmaben Common Good Committee members last week discussed the potential sale of the Nethermill Road site.

But following an appeal from Lochmaben and District Community Council, it was decided that no further decisions regarding the sale would be made until a full consultation had taken place.

Community council chairman Colin Davidson said: “It was also noted that as the area has not been deemed surplus to requirements by Dumfries and Galloway Council, its disposal was not seen to be necessary. The community council was well supported by our local councillors, Stephen Thompson and Adam Wilson, and we made clear the strength of feeling regarding retaining the area for community use.”
