Palace party was a privilege

A SPECTACULAR afternoon was enjoyed in London on Tuesday by Stuart and Tricia Thompson.

The Gretna couple were delighted to attend the Coronation Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, in the presence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal.

Stuart, who is the convenor of Annan Riding of the Marches, said: “It was amazing, the weather was so good, the gardens were absolutely beautiful and there was a lot of tremendously interesting people there.

“It was a true and utter privilege to travel to London and go into the palace gardens.”

And Stuart’s smart attire caused quite a stir with many other guests keen to know more about the tartan.

It wasn’t the first garden party that the Thompsons have attended, having been at Holyrood in the past, but Stuart said: “They are two very different parties but the concept is the same.

“It’s such an honour to have been at both.”
