Park graffiti and vandalism outrage

DISAPPOINTMENT has been expressed at graffiti found in McJerrow Park.

Users were this week disgusted to find swearing and coarse language daubed on some of the play equipment, as well as burns marks on apparatus and smashed glass.

Following the complaints, community councillors visited the park on Tuesday night after their meeting. They agreed to report the graffiti to officials at Dumfries and Galloway Council and request a clean up.

Meanwhile, the gala team were gutted that their portable toilets were vandalised and rolled over following Saturday’s festivities, which included a well attended turn-up event in the park.

Chairman Ian McLatchie said: “After such a fantastic weekend it was truly disheartening to be met with this sight. This was done either late Sunday afternoon or evening as we and others had made sure the park was spotless after Gala Day.

“If anyone has information on the culprits please feel free to message us.”
