Party time as church turns one

FIRST birthday celebrations have taken place at Hope Church in Annan.

Nearly 60 people crammed into Kate’s Kitchen to mark the occasion and to enjoy an uplifting night of contemporary Christian worship.

Visiting speaker Pastor Jim Gibson, from Glasgow, spoke at the church opening and returned a year on, to give an emotional heartfelt message on God understanding our pain.

He said: “It’s wonderful to be back and see the church growing, it feels like home.”

Over the year the little church has steadily grown from a handful of people to regular Sunday night congregation of over 30 people,

Minister Sandy Jamieson-Barr, who established the congregation, said: “Many people have said the church is dead and irrelevant for today, but we are finding the opposite – that faith is alive and well in the south west of Scotland.”

The church group is part of the Assemblies of God and meets every Sunday in Kate’s Kitchen on Annan High Street at 6 pm. All welcome.
