THE turnaround of the running of Lochmaben’s pharmacy service has been praised.
Residents in the royal burgh had become increasingly worried about the service provided by Well Pharmacy over the past couple of years.
This was due to prescriptions issues, staff shortages and the premises being closed more often than not.
But over the past few months the pharmacy has risen like a phoenix from the ashes.
And the positive changes were recognised by Lochmaben Community Council during their latest monthly meeting on Monday.
Member Jane Purdie said: “We had a lot of concerns about the pharmacy and there was a lot of animosity and fear about what was going on. But that has changed quite considerably.
“I think it’s time for us to recognise the positive changes. People are feeling a lot more comfortable about approaching the chemist if there is a problem.
“And the chemist has worked very hard to get that relationship back up within the community of Lochmaben. They are a dream team.”
The Lochmaben Well Pharmacy team leader/manager Hayden Chandler was present at the meeting to answer questions and update members with how they are taking the chemist forward.
He said: “We appreciate the very positive feedback and we feel we have made progress since we’ve been in place since June last year.
“We are active on Facebook and have posted a lot of involvement and updates.
“We do have new services at hand including PocDoc which can discover your ten-year risk of a heart attack or stroke. We also have our Online Doctor service too.”
The community council received an update from the General Pharmaceutical Council who say they are continuing to monitor the pharmacy’s situation.
They have asked for any future complaints to report by the online form and using case number CAS-26197-G8D0G5.
