A panel of parenting and travel experts created a shortlist of their top family picnic locations across the country, taking into account views and surroundings, accessibility, facilities and parking.
This was then put to a public vote of 2000 British parents to discover the ultimate spot.
Galloway Forest Park finished 20th in the standings, pulling in 9% of the vote, edging out locations such as Lake Windermere in Cumbria, and Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.
Three Cliffs Bay in Gower, Wales, was crowned the best British picnic destination for families, with Padley Gorge in Derbyshire claiming second place.
