MUSICAL MOVIE . . . ‘Pipes and Sticks on Route 66’, which charts the journey of five musicians across America, will be shown at the Lonsdale Cinemas in Annan next week
And Alan Towers, of the Lonsdale Cinemas, hopes ‘Pipes and Sticks on Route 66’ will be well received by Annanites as there are strong pipe band traditions in the town.
Director John McDonald filmed the epic journey of musicians Willie McCallum, Angus MacColl, Stuart Liddell, Jim Kilpatrick and Mike Cole as they performed concert tours along the historic highway in the spring of 2012.
Piping and drumming enthusiasts are sure to lap up the entertaining concert performances as the guys travel the 2451 route from Chicago to Santa Monica, California.
A glowing report in Piping Today stated: “It has been a long, hard and expensive three years for McDonald, but the result is a very high quality and hugely enjoyable product that, if it can pass the crunch test of executive approval, would happily find a home on TV screens in Scotland or the USA.”
‘Pipes and Sticks on Route 66’ will be shown at the Lonsdale Cinemas on Tuesday at 1.30 pm and Wednesday at 8 pm.
