Play-off push is going to the wire
FINAL PUSH . . . the Solway Sharks need to win both matches this weekend to have a chance at qualifying for the play-offs

THE Solway Sharks’ quest for a play-off spot could come down to the final game of the season this Sunday night in Telford.

Just two fixtures remain in the regular NIHL campaign. And the Dumfries ice hockey outfit need to win both if they are to have any chance of extending their season into April.

They currently occupy ninth position in the table, while only the top eight progress to the play-off stage. Telford Tigers – who the Sharks face on Sunday night – currently sit four points ahead in eighth spot.

Even if the Dumfries side win both their fixtures, in order for them to stand a chance the Tigers would need to suffer regulation time defeats against the Swindon Wildcats and the Sharks.

Solway commence the weekend on Saturday evening at the ice bowl against Milton Keynes Lightning.

Fans are being encouraged to come out, make some noise, and show their support for the team.

The puck drops at 7 pm, with doors opening at 5.30 pm, and tickets are available now online at sharksihc.com/tickets or in person at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

On Sunday the squad make the journey down to Shropshire to face Telford in what could end up being a nail-biting clash.

Last weekend the Sharks secured a win at home to the Sheffield Steeldogs and fell to defeat away to division champions Leeds Knights.
