Player of the month award for 'Oor Wullie'

IN-FORM Queens player Willie Gibson has been named the Championship Player of the Month for February.

The 36-year-old pulled off some incredible performances and scored two wonder goals in as many weeks.

This follows on from Queens boss Allan Johnston and attacker Connor Shields double success last month.

Collecting the award, Willie said” “I am really pleased, it’s always nice to win individual awards but if it wasn’t for the team playing well I wouldn’t have won it, so it’s recognition for them too.  I am pleased with the way I am playing but I take more pleasure from the team winning games and we are on a good run just now so long may that continue.

“A lot is made of the my age and I understand that but for me as long as you work hard it doesn’t matter what age you are.  This award is just an example of what you can achieve.”

Manager AJ added: “I am happy for Willie, he has been a consistent performer for us this season and deserves the award.  He is a real example to others, not only the way he is playing but the way he trains, his commitment and desire to do well deserves the recognition.

“With Connor winning it last month, its back-to-back awards for the club which is a good sign.”
