Plea to find garden vandals

SADNESS has been expressed after vandalism and damage at a community garden in Stranraer.

The Unexpected Garden in Harbour Street was targeted sometime between Sunday and Monday, with fencing and shed doors broken.

A playhouse was also badly damaged and lots of mess was made around the site.

Police are investigating and a spokesperson for the force said: “As a well-used community garden in the town, this damage will have a significant impact on those who use the gardens.”

And in a post on Facebook, the garden team expressed their disappointment at the events, saying: “We’ve managed to fix the shed doors, move the broken fencing, and tidy up some of the other mess made, but the playhouse has been badly damaged it was kindly donated to us by a local family that enjoy the garden, so we’ll try and fix it if it’s possible to.

“If anyone knows or has seen anything please let us know. It has been reported to police.”

Anyone with information regarding the damage is urged to contact officers on 101, quoting incident number 3169 of 23 October 2023.
