Pod plans for alpaca attraction
READY TO EXPAND . . . Beverly Hebb with her prized alpacas

A CANONBIE alpaca attraction is hoping to expand into the glamping business.

Glencartholm Farm, home of Hebbs Alpacas, have recently submitted planning permission to convert a section of their agricultural land into a camping site that will house a number of glamping pods.

Glamping, or glamorous camping, is a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.

GLAMOUROUS CAMPING . . . a plan for the glamping pods hoped to be installed at Glencartholm Farm

Owner of Hebbs Alpacas, Beverly Morgan, said: “We’re still in the planning stages, but building glamping pods is just a natural evolution to our alpaca business.

“Many people are already enamoured with our animals, and what better way to expand upon that than by letting visitors stay overnight and wake up facing the fields of alpacas?

“The pods themselves would be able to accommodate a family of four, they would be positioned so that they wouldn’t cause any disturbances to neighbours, and it would hopefully bring some more traffic into Canonbie.

“If all goes well, we’re hoping to get the glamping pods built by next year. But it all depends on if the planning applications go through without any issues.”
