PEAK grass pollen season on its way to Southern Scotland, it’s been predicted.
Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg yesterday said: “The Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian and Borders region is forecast to see its first ‘moderate’ pollen counts of the grass pollen season over the next five days.
“The grass pollen season usually peaks in June and July, so ‘moderate’ pollen forecasts this week mark the start of the peak season. 95 per cent of hay fever sufferers are allergic to grass pollen and many start to experience symptoms when the count reaches ‘moderate’.”
He has produced a set of top tips to help reduce or prevent the symptoms of hay fever and they can be found on his website at

Max added: “There is currently no cure for hay fever, but there are many things you can do or take to help. Good luck.”
