THE rosettes just keep coming for Prestyn Patterson and his pony.

The eight-year-old has enjoyed great success in the equestrian world over the last year, gaining a slew of awards for his riding ability with grey Welsh Section A pony Cosford Diablo.

The duo have attended the Sparket events across the country and Prestyn won overall first place for tiny tots first ridden, overall first place for mountain and moorland first ridden, overall first place for starter ridden small breeds. He then won first ridden championship, overall mini championships and was named supreme ridden champion.

Mum Ashley explained: “The Sparket shows take place throughout the year, with the first two placing qualifying for the Sparkle Show at the end of the year.

“Points are added up from all the shows, resulting in placings for the whole year.”

Prestyn is a pupil at Heathhall Primary School in Dumfries but stables his pony in Dornock.
