Poor start for Gretna

Gretna FC 2008 2

University of Stirling 3

THE students took the honours in a closely contested game on the Astroturf at Raydale Park.

Callum Rae put the visitors ahead after a mistake from the Gretna defender. Russell Currie then scored a penalty on his debut after being fouled by the Stirling keeper. Jack Main then saved a penalty from Stirling.

Another defensive mix-up from the home side led to the university restoring their lead. However, Aidan Munro equalised with a header before the break.

A well contested second half saw the students come out winners after Ben Heal slotted in the winner after a Stirling counter attack.

Caledonian Braves 6

Gretna FC 2008 0

On Tuesday night Gretna were on their travels to face Caledonian Braves. Braves took the lead in the first minute and Gretna struggled to find any rhythm. They went 2-0 down just before the break.

In the second half it went from bad to worse as Braves scored four more after some good attacking play.

Gretna hope that some key players can get back fit as soon as possible.
