Post Office support group call

SOUTH Scotland MSP Emma Harper is urging anyone in Dumfries and Galloway affected by the Post Office Horizon scandal to come forward and contact a new support group set up to help Scottish victims.

The Scottish Postmasters for Justice and Redress Group was launched at the Scottish Parliament at an event hosted by SNP MSP Kenneth Gibson. The group was founded by former sub-postmaster Rab Thomson, wrongly convicted of embezzlement, alongside former postmaster Calum Greenhow, and former MP Marion Fellows.

The group aims to support those pursuing compensation, offering access to legal advice and mental health support. The Horizon IT scandal, widely described as one of the most significant miscarriages of justice in UK history, saw hundreds of sub-postmasters wrongfully accused of financial wrongdoing due to faults in the Post Office’s computer system.

“Postmasters across Scotland suffered from one of the biggest miscarriages of our times with lives ruined, in no small part due to years of inaction from Westminster governments,” said Emma Harper.

She also emphasised the importance of the Redress group, seeking justice for all, adding: “There is no time limit under the legislation and the Scottish Government will always look into any cases where people give their name as a possible miscarriage of justice case.”

Contact the Scottish Postmasters for Justice and Redress Group on their website for more information.
