Postal voters urged to return ballot papers

OVER 20,000 postal votes had been returned by this weekend been for the UK General Election on the May 7 and postal voters are being urged to return their vote quickly.

An spokesman for the Returning Officer said: “I am urging every postal voter to return theirs to us as quickly as possible.
“To make sure that your vote counts, postal votes should be returned in the post by Tuesday May 5 to guarantee that your vote arrives.
“In total over 30,000 postal voting packs have been issued for the Dumfries and Galloway and the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale constituencies.”
Replacement ballot papers can be issued up to 5 pm on Thursday May 7 but postal votes that have not been returned in the post by Tuesday May 5 can handed in at any polling station in your voting constituency.
The results of the election counts in the Easterbook Hall, Dumfries, are expected to be declared by 4 am next Friday.
