STEPS have been taken to ensure postal votes arrive at some households in the region in time for this week’s General Election.
Dumfries and Galloway Council say they are ‘taking measures’ to ensure a small number of postal voters in the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale and Dumfries and Galloway constituencies who aren’t at home this week can still cast their vote.
It comes after the distribution of postal votes nationally was hit by delays.
Royal Mail has now confirmed that all packs in the two constituencies should be delivered by today, Monday.
Meanwhile, the local authority called on anyone still affected to contact their dedicated helpline via email at [email protected].
They also reissued some voting packs and have been posting updates on their website and social media.
A spokesperson said: “We are prioritising those who will not be at home this week. If you will be at home this week, please wait for delivery and contact in the next few days if you still haven’t received your voting pack.”
