SOUTH Scotland MSP Emma Harper has visited the Wanlockhead Museum of Lead Mining and Gold Panning to see the dedicated work the Trust have undertaken.
Wanlockhead Museum Trust was established in 1974 by Geoff Downs-Rose with Bill Harvey who shared a vision of bringing the culture and history of the mining community back to life.
It is now run by the volunteer trustees of the charitable trust (SCIO), Wanlockhead Museum Trust and funded entirely by admission fees and donations.
Ms Harper toured the museum and mine, and the former miners cottages which have been constructed to look as they would have in the 1750s, 1850s and 1920s.
She said afterwards: “I would really encourage everyone to visit the Museum, the mine and the cottages, particularly as the Trust have put so much work into their preservation and regeneration.”
