Prolific striker joins Anvils

GRETNA FC 2008’s newest addition scored no less than 58 goals last season in all competitions.

Former Ayr Utd, Cumnock, Glenafton and Nithsdale frontman Sean McKenzie has signed up at Raydale Park for the 2025/26 Lowland League campaign.

The 27-year-old has been a target for the club, with some of his games being watched by Gretna’s director of football Nikki White.

White said: “We are delighted to get this deal over the line, we’ve been monitoring his situation for some time with both Ally Mason and myself taking in games he was involved in.

“Our motto at this club is to give local talent a chance, I believe we are the best club for Sean at this stage in his career, the environment that the players and coaching staff will provide gives Sean every chance to perform how we know he can. Buckle up!”

Manager Vinnie Parker added: “Sean has been in with us for the past two weeks and has shown real hunger and a strong desire to work hard on the training pitch.

“Scoring 58 goals in all competitions last season, there’s no doubt about his goal-scoring capabilities. If he continues to apply himself as he has in training, I’m confident he’ll be a big success in the Lowland League.”

The Black and Whites welcome West of Scotland outfit Lesmahagow Juniors to Raydale Park on Saturday for their first summer friendly, Kick off is at 3 pm. Entry is £5, with U16s free.
