INTEREST is being gauged in the potential community buyout of a village pub.
A public meeting is being set up in Brydekirk next month to see if locals would want to get involved in taking over the village’s Brig Inn.
The aim is to gauge interest, views and opinions on such a move, which could be funded by grants from the third sector.
Anyone with an interest is invited to attend the event in the village hall on Monday February 19 at 7 pm.
The Brig Inn opened in 1977 and was run as a pub until closing a few years ago.
It was bought by its current owners in spring 2021 but they failed to secure permission from Dumfries and Galloway Council to turn it into a house following an outcry from the community, who said they wanted to see it remain as a public house.
