Pub to stay shut until spring

DUMFRIES’ historical Globe Inn bar has announced that it will not reopen again until April next year.

In a statement posted on social media this week, the pub, which has remained closed for several weeks since hospitality restrictions were first enforced, said the decision had been taken due to the “unpredictability of the tier system,” which determines how strictly regions are locked-down.

The statement said staff were “saddened” to be closing doors for a further five months, but added: “We will be working hard behind the scenes to bring wonderful new dishes and experiences to you when we reopen.

“So please keep an eye on our social media channels to keep abreast of exciting developments over the coming months.

“We look forward to seeing you all next year, please stay safe.”
